Sally sat crosslegged in her bed, back against the pillows, with her laptop computer in her lap while Jane sat on the other side, facing Sally and the backside of the computer. Jane was wringing her hands nervously, watching the flickering blue light bouncing off of Sally’s face. It was dark outside, and the room was lit only by a lamp on Sally’s bedside table.

“Do you like that?” said a sultry version of Jane’s voice from the tinny laptop speakers. “My panties pulled to the side? Playing with my tight little asshole? Which hole should I put my toy in? They both feel so good. Maybe I’ll stick it into my wet pussy.”

Jane tried to tune out her own voice. It made her cringe so much. It made her feel sick. It just didn’t seem like it was real, it didn’t seem like it was actually her saying those things. Rather, it was an evil twin, or a bizarro-world Jane. Someone who looked and sounded just like her but didn’t feel the same way.

“You don’t have to keep watching,” Jane said suddenly. Sally looked up from the screen and saw Jane’s face. She smiled softly, nodded, and shut the laptop closed.

“Don’t be embarrassed,” said Sally tenderly. “Not around me.”

“I know,” said Jane. “I know I shouldn’t be embarrassed around you. But knowing that Kenny has seen these videos, that he has them all in some collection somewhere, it makes me feel sick. It makes me regret doing this even more.”

“Yeah, I get that,” said Sally. “I’d hate it if Kenny — or anyone I knew, really — had some sort of video like this of me. But it’s too late to worry about it. The damage has already been done. It was done before you even knew Kenny was a person.”

“It really freaked me out, Sally,” said Jane. “It really felt like he was kidnapping me and was going to hurt me. I think he’s obsessed with me.”

“I’ve never known Kenny to hurt someone,” interjected Sally.

“I don’t know,” Jane mused. “I don’t know him well enough. But look, if Kenny was willing to overstep lines like he did, deceiving both of us, what about all the other people who might have seen my videos? What if I run into someone who’s a moral step below Kenny?”

“Nothing, I hope,” said Sally. “But you have to keep on living. You can’t just quit because you’re afraid.”

“Do you think Kenny will show anybody?” asked Jane.

“I don’t know,” said Sally. “We can tell him he better not. But that’s the best we can do.”

“Do you think any less of me?” Jane said as though she were pleading. “Because of these videos?”

“No,” Sally replied empathetically. “No, absolutely not. I think you did what you thought was best for you at the time and there’s nothing wrong with that.”

“I thought it would solve some problems,” said Jane. “I thought I’d make enough money to get out of my parents’ house and go out on my own. Turns out, it did get me out of my parents’ house.
